The Hawks' troubles at point guard were supposed to be solved with the acquisition of Mike Bibby.
They're not. Far from it.
While his teammates worked out in Sacramento on Thursday, Acie Law IV ran on a treadmill. Law sprained his right wrist late in the third quarter of Wednesday's loss to the Kings. It's the third time this season he has injured the wrist to some degree.
He didn't break it, confirmed by the results of an MRI exam, which was one of the initial concerns late Wednesday. But his availability for today's game against Golden State is in serious doubt.
Law's injury puts the Hawks into an even deeper point guard quandary with Bibby struggling with a right heel injury, sustained in his first game in a Hawks uniform. Speedy Claxton, the only other point guard on the roster, is in Atlanta doing rehab after knee surgery.
"We're in a tough, tough situation right now," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said as Bibby sat on a treatment table on the training room while the rest of the team went through practice. "We'll have to figure out some ways to get through this stretch, because right now we've just got guys struggling with these injuries."
The point guard ranks were so depleted Thursday that the Hawks had to forgo their normal practice for a session of shooting drills.
