New movie based on ABA

WILL FERRELL is moving from the race track to the basketball court to star opposite WOODY HARRELSON in the sports comedy 'Semi-Pro.'

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 'Talladega Nights' actor will play Jackie Moon, the owner-coach-player of the fictional Flint Michigan Tropics in the final year of the now-defunct American Basketball Association. Moon must lead his team on a desperate attempt to make it to the big leagues.

The script for 'Semi-Pro' was written by SCOT ARMSTRONG, who also penned Ferrell's hit film 'Old School.'

Ferrell seems to have a thing for sports-themed movies as of late. He is following up the successful 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,' which centered on the world of NASCAR racing, with the upcoming figure skating comedy 'Blades of Glory' alongside JON HEDER. He also appeared in 'Kicking & Screaming,' in which he played an overzealous youth team soccer coach.

And Woody Harrelson himself is certainly no stranger to hoop flicks, having starred in 1992's 'White Men Can't Jump' with WESLEY SNIPES.

Just bought Talladega Night on DVD, freckin hilarious. Hope he throws some different stuff in this one, not just random thing here, random thing their. Was a huge fan of his on SNL, and Ancorman was a classic. We will see.
